One voter had already exercised it’s franchise in the morning, while polling officials were awaiting the arrival of the second PwD voter to cast vote. It is further stated that senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities were accorded priority and assisted in casting their votes whenever they arrived at the polling station.

The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the election authorities in making the polling station accessible and emphasized the importance of ensuring that all eligible voters, including persons with disabilities are able to participate in the democratic process with dignity, independence and ease.

The visit forms part of the State Commissioner’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive electoral practices across the State.
