Eastern Nagaland citizens who vote in election will be marked for ages for ‘BETRAYAL’, says ENPO

Tuensang: Checking to be conducted for all vehicles entering Eastern Nagaland jurisdiction for liquor and other intoxicant substances

In a general advisory released on 14th April 2024, the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), tribal bodies, Eastern Nagaland Women Organization (ENWO) and Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) have cautioned that any citizen of Eastern Nagaland who goes against the ENPO Resolution and take part in the electoral process would be marked for ages in “an indelible letter” for “BETRAYAL”. The organizations have also informed that the citizen would be held responsible for any confrontation occurring at any polling station leading to law-and-order situation in Eastern Nagaland.

The organizations also assured protection to “any citizen of Eastern Nagaland including the Elected Members and Government Servants facing repercussions for abiding by the EN Public decision through voluntary abstention from voting”.

While extending its appreciation to all citizens of the region for the cooperation on the ongoing Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency, which was declared on 5th March 2024, the ENPO, Tribal Bodies, ENWO and ENSF advised “Eastern Nagaland citizens or outsiders to refrain from disrupting the ongoing peaceful Public Emergency in order to avoid any awkward situation that is anticipated considering the magnanimity of the agitated public.”

The Advisory also requested all the Legislators and leaders of political party leaders to particularly to take heed.

Further, the organizations led by the ENPO has announced that “there will be checking of all vehicles including Police’s vehicles entering Eastern Nagaland jurisdiction with liquor and other intoxicant substances.” ENWO has been entrusted to oversee the implementation of this directive, the statement informed.
