For the second consecutive day of the Winter Session of the Parliament, both The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned on 27th November 2024 amid the ruckus by the Opposition over various issues topped by the bribery allegations against Gautam Adani and associates by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Both the Houses have been adjourned till 11:00 am on 28th November 2024. The Session will have 19 sittings spread over a period of 26 days.

On Wednesday, the Opposition in both the Houses demanded discussions on indictment of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar R Adani, and other associates by the US Department of Justice that alleged that the accused “devised a scheme to offer, authorize, make and promise to make bribe payments to Indian government officials in exchange for the government officials causing state electricity distribution companies to enter into PSAs (power sale agreements) with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India)”.

The other main issue was violence in Sambhal, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh where communal conflict has led to deaths of four persons. The communal dispute arose when the court ordered a survey of the 16th-century Jama Masjid over claims that the mosque was built after demolishing a temple.
