The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) organized a panel discussion on women entrepreneurship and empowerment at Bloom Bazaar, Kohima, on 18th November 2023. The event was aimed to celebrate the achievements of women entrepreneurs in Nagaland and underscore the significance of empowering women for sustainable development and individual growth.
The distinguished panellists included Dr Vezokholu Theyo, Joint Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland; Adi Nakhro – Gender Specialist, State Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti; Sali Kez Ngully – Director, LifeConnect Nagaland; Nagali Shohe – Advocate cum Panel Lawyer, Kohima District Legal Services Authority; and Ben Pamie – Founder and CEO, P7.

The engaging discussion revolved around Nagaland women’s privileges in terms of education and equality, with a focus on various schemes and initiatives for fostering sustainable development. Participants actively exchanged insights, shared experiences, and disseminated valuable information on women’s issues and empowerment.
During the discussion, Ben Pamie’s emphasizing the pivotal role of social media in business promotion. Pamie has not only successfully promoted her brand but also empowered numerous women by providing employment opportunities for tailoring, packaging, and delivery.
Dr Vezokholu Theyo highlighted the importance of women’s health and urged the audience to make use of government-provided schemes for free check-ups and medical support. She specifically mentioned the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), ensuring healthcare accessibility without financial concerns.
Nagali Shohe, an advocate, addressed the rising cases of domestic violence against women. Adi Nakhro supported this concern, shedding light on the One Stop Centre (OCS) and the helpline number 181, offering immediate and emergency responses for women affected by violence.
Sali Kez Ngully shared her organization’s work in empowering marginalized women, especially wine sellers, by providing alternative livelihoods.
The collaborative spirit among panelists was a highlight, with each member expressing challenges and offering support to one another.
