Awareness and sensitization programme on Minority welfare scheme held at Longleng

The Directorate of Minority Affairs,  Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with District Administration Longleng organized an awareness and sensitization programme on Minority welfare scheme and activities in Longleng on May 15 at VDB hall, Longleng.

Welcoming the official, Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W Manpai Phom, NCS, said the Department of Minorities Affairs is a newly established department, and many people remain unaware of the various schemes introduced by the government across different departments. The programme aimed to discuss these schemes and their implementation.

DC expressed gratitude to the departments for visiting Longleng district to conduct the awareness drive, stating that the awareness program in the district remains low. He highlighted that the schemes are crucial for the people of the district and stressed that it is equally important for Longleng to benefit from them, as in other districts.

The speaker further urged heads of departments, higher officials, village council members, and GBs to relay the information to their respective communities to ensure wider dissemination of the schemes at the grassroots level.

Joint Director Minority Affairs, Government of Nagaland, Andrew C. Imti, NCS, in his keynote address said that the visit to Longleng marked the eleventh district covering in the state. He said that district wise outreach programmes are being undertaken to create awareness among the stakeholders on various centrally sponsored schemes and welfare initiatives of the department.

The details on National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) such as Micro Credit Schemes, PM Vikas, Minority Scholarship and PMJVK that functions under the administrative of Minority Affairs Government of India ware highlight through PowerPoint presentation by the Programme Assistant, Khriezotuolie, Superintendent, Rugozeto Iralu and Project Officer, Shalo Khing.

The programme was attended by representatives from District Administration, Head of Offices, GBs, VDBs secretary, CSO, Churches and Muslim union Longleng.

The programme culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by the chairperson, Andrew C. Imti, NCS.
