Kohima: Cabinet deliberates on providing long-stay ILP to students, teachers, investors

Amid the strong demand for the Inner Line Permit regime to be implemented in the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland in view of fears of the influx of illegal immigrants, the Government of Nagaland has decided to extend the regime over the three districts.

This was informed today by Temjen Imna Along, the Minister of Tourism and Higher Education and Spokesperson of the State Government, during a press conference at his chamber in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat following a Cabinet meeting.

The Minister also informed that in Dimapur district, there shall be three categories of residents and that no ILP will be required for those in Categories I and II:

Category I relates to those individuals who were settled in Dimapur prior to 1st December 1963. The Department will work towards providing these individuals with Smart Card facility with the option to avail Permanent Residence Certificate and Domicile Certificate.

Category II relates to those individuals who were settled in Dimapur between 1st December 1963 and 21st November 1979. These individuals can avail Permanent Residence Certificate with the option to avail Domicile Certificate.

– Category III relates to those individuals who were settled in Dimapur on and beyond 22 November 1979.

Further, Along informed on strengthening the digital system for issuance of the ILP.

He also said that the Cabinet also deliberated on providing long-stay ILP, valid for 2-5 years, to individuals in certain categories such as students, teacher, technical personnel, business partners who are investing in the State, etc.
