IMDH receives water filter under LADP Common Pool

MLA and District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Chairman, Nuklutoshi Longkumer inaugurated a drinking water filter at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital on May 13 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, along with doctors and nurses.

The drinking water filter installed at IMDH was one among five such units donated under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) Common Pool 2025-26. The other installations were made at the DC Office Mokokchung, SP Office Mokokchung, Circuit House, and Ao Senden Office.

According to the DPDB planning officer, a total budget of Rs 6 lakh from the LADP common pool was invested for the installation of the five drinking water filters.

Speaking at the programme, Nuklutoshi Longkumer said that water is an essential requirement and expressed hope that the facility would benefit the hospital. He also assured that efforts would continue to extend assistance through the LADP Common Pool in the future. He urged the hospital authorities and staff to maintain the facility carefully so that it would benefit everyone.

Dr. Kilangwabang Pongener, MD (Medicine) and Senior Specialist at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital expressed gratitude to the MLA and DPDB Chairman for the donation of a water filter, stating that it would fulfill an essential daily requirement for both hospital staff and visitors.

He said that although IMDH is located in a remote part of Northeast India near the Myanmar border, the hospital continues to serve everyone who comes seeking medical help. He stated that the hospital attends not only to the people of the district, but also to needy patients from every nook and corner of Nagaland and outside the state.

Dr. Pongener further said that the hospital takes pride in serving people from different communities and religions across the country, adding that healthcare services at IMDH have “no boundaries and limits.”

Mentioning that the hospital will commemorate 125 years in 2029, he said IMDH has several aspirations for the occasion, including the construction of a grand hospital entrance gate in honour of Dr. Imkongliba and that reflects the legacy of the hospital, and also expressed hope for continued support from the DPDB, Ao legislators and leaders.
