The Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch has expressed gratitude to all voluntary blood donors, “the true heroes”, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donors Day which falls on 1st October 2024.
Akhale Vizol Khamo, the General Secretary of the State Branch, said in a statement that the day is a reminder of the invaluable contribution made by each donor to the health and survival of countless individuals across the state and the nation. “Your selfless act of donating blood not only saves lives but also promotes a sense of community, kindness, and solidarity,” it added.
It also added that the blood donated helps people recover from surgeries, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening illnesses, ensuring that no one is left to suffer from a shortage of this precious resource.
Further, the IRCS, Nagaland State Branch attributed the success of its blood donation drives to the donors which it said established a “reliable supply of safe blood” and also empowered the Branch to respond swiftly during emergencies and disasters. “… we are immensely grateful to each donor, volunteer, and organization that has partnered with us in this mission”, it said.
On the occasion, the IRCS called upon those who have not yet experienced the joy of giving blood to join this life-saving cause. “With a single donation, you have the potential to save up to three lives. There is no greater act of compassion than this,” it said.
Furthermore, it thanked the blood donors and said “every drop of your blood carries hope, courage, and life”.
