In pursuance of the Government of Nagaland Home Department’s notification, the Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao has informed all concerned that the date of polling i.e. June 16 has been declared as paid holiday for the employees in the notified Ward No.8 (Tsumang B). The order has been necessitated to enable them to participate and exercise their franchise. It shall also apply to all such category of employees, who are enrolled as elector under the aforesaid Ward but are ordinarily residing or working in another area.
Further, the circular stated that under the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1981 (Act, XXVI), the date of polling is also declared as Paid Holiday for all the employees of Banks and Financial Institutions in Nagaland who are registered as Electors in the aforesaid Ward to enable them to exercise their franchise.

Furthermore, under Section 10 of Nagaland shop and Establishment Act 1982, all such shops and commercial establishments under the aforementioned wards owned/ managed / run by persons registered as Electors in the said Ward shall remain closed during the polling hours on the polling day to enable such Electors to exercise their franchise.
The circular further mentioned that in the event of a repoll, the day fixed by the State Election Commission for such re-poll shall also be observed as public holiday for the aforementioned Electors.
The above provisions however, shall not apply to any Electors whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which he/ she is engaged, the circular from DC Wokha stated.
