Kids Play Room and Hand Wash Facilities inaugurated at Loyola Hr Sec School, Kiphire

Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS), Kiphire, marked a significant step toward holistic child development with the inauguration of a Kids Play Room and Hand Wash facility on Monday. The dual facilities were unveiled in the presence of school authorities, dignitaries, clergy, students, and community members.

The Kids Play Room was formally inaugurated by M Narola Longkumer, District Education Officer, Kiphire, who attended as the Special Guest. Adikhing I Sangtam, President of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), inaugurated the Hand Wash facility as the Guest of Honour. The newly established Kids Play Room was blessed by Rev Fr Marius Zachamo Patton, Vice Principal of LHSS.

Addressing the gathering, M Narola Longkumer emphasized the growing importance of play-based infrastructure in modern education. “A Kids Play Room is the need of the hour as education becomes more effective and child-centric,” she said. She noted that early childhood is a crucial stage for cognitive learning and that such spaces provide stress-free environments for recollection, problem-solving, and exploration.

“It will be a stepping stone as children are exposed to learning. This facility also instills discipline and helps nurture the best in every child,” she added.

Adikhing I Sangtam, in his address, urged students to strive for excellence in their studies. He distributed a Bible to each child, encouraging them to “grow with the fear of the Lord” and to carry the Word of God throughout life. Quoting scripture, he reminded the students that “the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.”

As an incentive for academic excellence, he announced a cash award of Rs 10,000 for the student who secures the top position in 2027. He extended his best wishes to all students for a successful future.

Earlier, the programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Sr Prema, Headmistress of LHSS. Rev Fr Philip Magh, Principal, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and all attendees. Madam Musula Clare compered the event. The occasion featured a welcome song performed by the children, followed by a vote of thanks. The gathering concluded with the school anthem, after which snacks and sweets were served to all present.

Among those in attendance were members of the School Managing Board, Church Council members, priests, nuns, staff, and students, reflecting strong community support for initiatives aimed at improving learning environments and student welfare at LHSS.
