The Indian Red Cross Society, Kiphire district branch in collaboration with Akehda Amulung celebrated World Red Cross Day at Good Shepherd High School Kiphire on Monday.
Guest speaker P Lipichem, vice patron, IRCS and former honorary secretary of Kiphire, spoke on the topic ‘Universal, Human and Diverse aspects of the Red Cross Movement’, where he gave a background of IRCS, the largest humanitarian network in the world.
He highlighted that the Red Cross helps and assists people across the world through natural disasters and man-made crisis. IRCS puts humanity first and has no boundaries or discrimination on race, religion, class or caste, Lipichem said, adding that justice, peace and truth happens only through the Red Cross.
He also shared his experience of donating blood and encouraged the students and fellow members to help others in their own capacities and be change makers.
Dr. Dheni, District Epidemiologist gave a short talk on ‘Health and Hygienic Living’ where he spoke about the importance of maintaining hygiene. Citing the example of COVID 19, he said it was an opportunity for all of us to learn about keeping the body healthy. He added that good health gives confidence and helps in concentration in studies too.
The program was chaired by Athrise while a welcome note followed by short clips on History of Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement was presented by Longtili C Sangtam, founder and chairman Akehda Amulung.
Students of Good Shepherd High School presented a song. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Mughaho Anthony, member, managing committee, IRCS.
