The Lirmen Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) and the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference have condemned the sexual assault on a minor in Saring Village in Mokokchung district on 10th August 2024 allegedly by a Sergeant Major of NSCN (Khango).
The LKM stated that the heinous act “stands in stark contradiction to the values of respect, morals and dignity that we uphold within our community” and called for immediate action and reflection within our community.
“This act of violence is a grave violation of personal safety and autonomy and it is profoundly unacceptable,” LKM said while extending its support to the victim. No one should ever have to endure such violation and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that the victim receives the care, respect and justice they deserve, President Temjenliba Aier and General Secretary Temjensangla stated.

Meanwhile, the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) too demanded that the law enforcing authority take stringent action against the accused Moakaba as per the provisions of law and the trial court do not grant bail to the perpetrator under any circumstance.
President Tongpangmangyang Kichu and Assistant General Secretary Sensomeren Lkr affirmed solidarity with the victim and urged all the right-thinking society to strongly condemn such act and seek justice for the victim. OKM also expressed its gratitude to all the groups and individuals for their thoughtful action and support to the victim and her family.
