LKM inspects NH-02 construction as declared by Mokokchung DC

The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) undertook an assessment of the NH-2 lane construct on August 9, following a meeting last month with various stakeholders and assurance of quality workmanship by the concerned company.

“The assessment on August 9, involving LKM, LKMRCC, PWD (NH) Deptd, the Authority Engineer, and KKB Rülho Construction Company, revealed positive changes along the Unger to Tuli Tzürangra stretch, prompting expressions of gratitude. However, concerns remain regarding the quality of workmanship, leading to a call for the Naga people to preserve and enhance their land rather than harm it,” stated the LKM in a press release issued today.

The recent development involving the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) and the  LKM Road Coordinator Committee (LKMRCC) on the NH-2 lane passing through Langpangkong road, had raise concerns due to the challenges faced by commuters. The construction by KKB Rülho Construction Company had been under scrutiny for inadequate progress, prompting extensive discussions, a deadline of July 30, 2024, was set for the Deputy Commissioner to address the issue and ensure proper work.  In this regard, the LKM had issued a warning of potential consequences if improvements were not made.

In response, a meeting was convened by DC Mokokchung on July 29 at the DC conference hall, where the Rülho Construction Company requested an extension until August 8. Subsequently, it was agreed that stakeholders, including the LKM, would inspect the road on August 9.

“In  a show of unity displayed by various segments of society joining hands, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) remains resolute, fortified and appreciative. The LKM has issued a stern warning against any disruptions by individuals or groups during the ongoing road construction, emphasizing their readiness to take necessary action,” asserted the LKM.

In a firm address to the company, authority engineer, and Department representatives, the LKM President Imlinok had stressed the need for swift and proper completion of the work.

The LKM expressed that it stood prepared to enforce measures if the work does not meet expected standards in the future. “Any disruptions will trigger the LKM’s independent action, emphasizing the project’s critical importance.  The letter submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on July 26, 2024, retains its significance until the specified work is satisfactorily completed,” stated the LKM.
