Meghalaya CM Sangma to grace the opening of 5th Regional Youth Convention in Kohima

The Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) is all set to host the 5th Regional Youth Convention (RYC) which will begin on Friday, at the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima.

Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma will grace the inaugural function as the special guest. The programme will begin at 4 PM with the hoisting of flag by the special guest and the blessing of the stalls and the convention hall by the Bishops of the northeast region.

An update from the organisers informed that the celebration of the Holy Mass centred on the convention theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” will follow at 5 PM. Following the Mass, a welcome and felicitation will take place, beginning with the Lord’s Prayer and the convention theme song led by the host diocese.

Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) North East president, Huimingam Jonah Chithung will deliver the presidential address, while North East Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) chairman Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli will offer an exhortation. A special presentation will be performed by the Shillong Archdiocese Catholic Youth Movement (SACYM), followed by a message for the youth from Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Health Minister of Meghalaya.

Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, will then address the gathering, leading into the formal address by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.

The four-day convention is being organised by the NERYC and the ICYM-NE. The event is expected to draw over 2,000 delegates from across the 15 dioceses across the North East region.
