Mokokchung DPDB felicitates HSLC, HSSLC toppers; Cleanest Ward Awards presented

The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Mokokchung district was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung on May 13 under the chairmanship of MLA and DPDB Chairman, Nuklutoshi Longkumer.

The meeting commenced with a felicitation programme for the HSLC and HSSLC toppers from Mokokchung district. Class X and Class XII top three rank holders were honoured for their academic performance and presented cash awards sponsored by the DPDB.

Under the felicitation programme, first position holders received a cash award of Rs 10,000 each, second position holders received Rs 7,000 each, while third position holders received Rs 5,000 each.

In the HSLC examination under Mokokchung district, Imnayangla of St. Mary’s Residential School, Alichen secured the 8th position with 96.67 percent. Lipoklemla Jamir of Ladybird School, Mokokchung, Temsukumla Imchen of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung and Benjongsenla of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangolemba jointly secured the 19th position with 95 percent, while Akumtola Jamir of Christian Standard Higher Secondary School, Changtongya secured the 20th position with 94.83 percent.

In the HSSLC Science stream, Moaakum T Longkumer of PM SHRI Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung secured the first position with 91.40 percent, followed by Chendila Walling of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung with 88.80 percent and Anadil Rza of PM SHRI Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung with 87.40 percent.

In the Arts stream, Roshni Kumari Gupta of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung secured the first position with 90.20 percent, followed by Lanusanen Jamir of GHSS Tuli with 88.20 percent and Monyu of PM SHRI Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung with 86.80 percent.

In the Commerce stream, Chubatila Pongen of PM SHRI Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung secured the first position with 83.20 percent, followed by Tongitsangla with 75.80 percent, while Susangjenla M Jamir and Sano Maya Gurung jointly secured the third position with 73.20 percent.

The meeting also witnessed the presentation of the Cleanest Ward Award 2025-2026 based on the reports submitted by the inspection committee. It may be noted that the initiative is the first of its kind undertaken by the DPDB. Traditionally, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) conducts cleanliness awards for the 18 wards of Mokokchung town during the annual Cake Race programme held every December.

Under Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Alempang Ward secured the first position and received a cash award of Rs 30,000, while Salangtem Ward and Kichutip Ward secured the second and third positions receiving Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Under Changtongya Town Council, PWD Ward secured the first position and Church Ward secured the second position. Under Tuli Town Council, Longpong Ward secured the first position while Aitlenden Ward secured the second position. Under Mangolemba Town Council, Satihit Ward secured the first position and Hokiyong Ward secured the second position.

For the town councils, first position winners received a cash award of Rs 25,000 while second position winners received Rs 15,000 each.

All the awards were sponsored by the District Planning & Development Board, Mokokchung.

Following a review of the previous meeting’s minutes and action-taken report, the house passed two major development proposals.

Under Society Registration, the board recommended the registration of the MI Small Tea Growers Cooperative Society, Saringyim. While on Educational Expansion, the board recommended the upgradation of Green Hills Public School, Chuchuyimlang, from Middle Section to High School.

The board deliberated extensively on hosting the upcoming 25th edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy, scheduled for October 2026. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, appealed to all departments and members to extend full cooperation to ensure the milestone event is a grand success.

The DC also briefed the house on the recent DCs’ Conference held in Kohima, where he urged departments to maintain proper coordination and manage resources efficiently. He further informed that the district administration is actively planning to institute a ‘District Teachers Award’ to honour the educators.

During the meeting, the Principal of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, highlighted the institution’s recent achievements and requested continuous support from the board. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Commissioner.
