The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) with a grand celebratory programme on 16th November 2024 at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima with Chairman Assam State School Education Board, R.C. Jain IAS (Retd) as the Guest of Honour and Advisor School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome as the special guest.
Special Guest of the programme Advisor School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome in his address said that the NBSE has been a visionary in its approach towards education and that many successful individuals owe their success to the robust system of education implemented by the NBSE. He expressed his contentment over how the NBSE was moving progressively and systematically dealing with all the new educational policies and programmes and rapidly adapting to the needs of the students in the modern world. He also expressed his pride, in that students across the state trust the educational system of the state and how it has changed the lives of many in the state. He emphasized on the need to introduce more vocational subjects to the curriculum and highlighted the efforts that are being made to ensure that the educational system adheres to the need of making students employable. In conclusion he congratulated the NBSE for 50 successful and fulfilling years and hoped that the Chairperson and members of the board will continue to strive towards scaling new heights and be a beacon of inspiration to all the boards across the country.
Chairman of Assam State School Education Board, R.C. Jain IAS (Retd) speaking at the golden jubilee celebration programme said that the event was a celebration of a journey of dedication, growth and unwavering commitment to excellence in education. He said that the milestone is not just a measure of time but rather a testament to the countless lives touched, dreams nurtured and future saved through the power of knowledge and learning. He further stressed that the NBSE has been guided by a vision to create an inclusive and creative environment, one that encourages intellectual curiosity, fosters moral values and builds character. He said that the jubilee was an occasion to honour the educators of both past and present, who have been the heart and soul of the board and also the students who are the future of the society. He urged the board to take inspiration from the rich legacy of the past 50 years and renew its commitment to provide quality education.

Teisovi Gerad Meyase, Asst. Professor and Controller of Examinations, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma and HSLC topper 1999 also speaking at the event said that the momentous occasion marks 50 years of unwavering dedication of NBSE to the growth and empowerment of young minds across Nagaland. He said that over the decades the board has played a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape, fostering excellence and nurturing the dreams of countless students. He also said that the tireless efforts of the NBSE in advancing quality education and embracing innovation had left an indelible mark on the society.
Joint Secretary, Council of Boards of School Education in India, M.K. Arora speaking at the event said that NBSE has been the nurturing ground for countless students who have gone on to make significant contributions across various fields. He said that NBSE is one of the progressive boards in the country who is among the top three first boards in the country to introduce the grading system in declaring the results of HLSC examinations. He further commended the board for providing holistic education to the students of Nagaland and for making tireless efforts to ensure that the educational system in the state remains at par with the rest of the country. He congratulated the NBSE for the completion of 50 glorious years in the field of school education.
Commissioner and Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Nagaland Kevileno Angami in her exhortation speech congratulated NBSE for reaching such a remarkable milestone and said that 50 years of shaping young minds and fostering growth was a testament of the dedication and commitment of the NBSE towards excellence. She said that the occasion was a day to celebrate the countless lives transformed by the perseverance, hard work and unwavering passion for education that the NBSE had upheld through the decades. She said that the NBSE had been relentlessly and consistently serving the people ever since the enactment of the NBSE Act in 1973 and that the pioneers who laid the foundation and ensured the NBSE’s continued success should all be honoured. She urged the NBSE to let every challenge be an opportunity to learn and grow, and to be resilient and to keep striving for excellence. In conclusion she hoped that the NBSE’s commitment to education would continue to inspire, motivate and illuminate the path of young people and generations.
Earlier Chairperson NBSE Asano Sekhose gave the welcome address while Rangumbuing Nsarangbe Secretary NBSE pronounced the vote of thanks. Advisor School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome also released the Jubilee Souvenir and Momento in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Chairperson NBSE and other officials and guests of the programme.
