Niuland and Chümoukedima won their respective matches on 18 March 2025 in the ongoing Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament 2025 organised by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA).
In its match against Kohima, played at NCA Stadium in Chümoukedima, Niuland won by 5 wickets after a well-rounded performance, chasing down Kohima’s target of 93 runs.
Kohima faced an early setback, struggling to build a strong partnership throughout their innings. They were bowled out for a modest total of 92 runs in 25.2 overs. The innings was dominated by their top scorer Anga Shüya who made 27 runs off 38 balls, supported by Tapito Thupitopr, who contributed 24 runs off 31 balls.
However, the innings was ultimately derailed by a stellar performance from Akavi A Yeptho of Niuland. He displayed exceptional bowling skills, taking 5 wickets for 25 runs in his 9 overs, ensuring Kohima’s collapse.
Niuland chased down the modest target of 93 runs in 18.3 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Despite a steady start, they had a few hiccups, but the chase was kept on track thanks to contributions from Afzal Choudhury (26 off 50 balls) and Sujal Prasad Thakur (24 off 22 balls), who both played important knocks.
