NU’s Central Library conducts Web Sessions during National Librarianship Week

As part of National Librarianship Week, Nagaland University’s Central Library hosted two online sessions on August 13 and 14, 2024, to highlight digital resources.

On August 13, the “Enhancing the Value of the Experience with Project MUSE – A User Awareness Session” was held with 48 participants from social sciences and humanities, informed a press release by NU.  Mhonbemo Ngullie, Deputy Librarian, opened the session, followed by Dr. Nikita Wanjari from Balani InfoTech Pvt. Ltd., who provided a detailed overview of Project MUSE’s features. Dr. Wanjari explained benefits such as account creation, citation generation, and search functionalities. Ochentsungba Ozukum discussed remote access capabilities offered by Nagaland University, emphasizing accessibility.

On August 14, the “Leveraging the Usage of WestLaw” session, in collaboration with Thomson Reuters, engaged 36 participants from the law department. Dr. Chanlang Ki Bareh, Assistant Librarian, and Dr. Kuldeep Singh Panwar, HOD of Law, provided opening remarks. Lipika Malhan from Thomson Reuters demonstrated how to search legal documents on WestLaw and highlighted features like judgment identification and current news sections. Dr. Bareh also discussed alternative open access resources, and Ozukum showcased remote access options. Dr. Sentikumla concluded the session with final remarks on enhancing legal research skills.

Both sessions were interactive and successful, providing valuable insights into digital resources and their application. Nagaland University Central Library looks forward to hosting future sessions to support the university community’s research and educational needs, informed the press release.
