The Chümoukedima District Football Association will be organising an invitational inter-ward and village Futsal tournament and winter carnival 2023. Under the theme ‘One Chümoukedima’, the event will take place from December 8 to 13 at the J. J Arena Ward-8, Chümoukedima.
An Initiative of the CDFA, the objective of the tournament is to scout for young and upcoming local football talents from the grassroots. According to the CDFA, the Tournament will specifically target the wards and villages within the locality of Chümoukedima town and its periphery by providing a competitive and standardized field, which will enhance the level of performance and help in identifying local football talents from the area.
“The tourney is also aimed at fostering and building relationships cutting across different communities residing in Chümoukedima town and instilling a sense of Oneness: to transform Chümoukedima into an entity embracing all communities,” adds the Association.

The co-event Winter Carnival is a fundraiser event to enable well wishers and patrons and the public to converge and contribute through it, towards the CDFA’s upcoming activities including participation in the Nagaland Olympics Association and Dr. T. Ao Inter District Trophy to be held in 2024. The Winter Carnival, a family event, will present live music, foodcourt, kids park, games etc. The entry fee is slated at Rs. 50, while there will be free entry kids.
Altogether, 16 teams from 11 wards under Chümoukedima Town and neighbouring villages including Chekiye, Diphupar, Sovima, Tenyiphe & Medziphema will be participating in the Tournament.

The CDFA have in the past conducted diverse events such as the CDFA league, D-License Coaches Clinic, Referee Clinic. It recently hosted the Nagaland State Futsal championship and have already set the Event calender for 2024. One of its chief focus is to establish football coaching camps in Schools, targetting young talents within the age of age 8-14, as well as organising District leagues.
“The Government declaring Chümoukedima as the Sports (& Education) City is a great opportunity for CDFA. Many state of the art Sports facility and infrastructure are already here in the District especially in Sovima, the sports village, the Cricket Stadium, Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, and the recently inaugurated Multi-Discipline Indoor stadium,” says Sedevikho Angami, Convenor of the invitational inter-ward and village Futsal tournament and winter carnival 2023. Angami also expresses optimism that the District can become a Football District. “It is in fact a District where other Districts and active Clubs source their players from. Our target is to make Chümoukedima the centre of Nagaland Football,” expresses Angami.
The upcoming Invitational inter-ward and village Futsal tournament and winter carnival 2023 is an attempt towards achieving this end, and further ensure solidarity among the diverse communities that makes up Chümoukedima.
The champions will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs.30,000 sponsored by Kevi’s Real Estate. The runner up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 sponsored by Er. Ichirang Zeliang, Executive Engineer, PHED. The fair play award will be sponsored by PG International, Jalandhar while the player of the tournament award will be sponsored by Kaizen, Jalandhar. Further, the best Goal Keeper Award will sponsored by G-sports, Nagaland.
Abei Rüpreo, Treasurer, Nagaland Cricket Association will be the tournament patron while the match patrons are Obed Quinker, Chairman, Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), Dr. Kuzonyi Wedeo, ADC Chümoukedima, CTC, Mego Kruse, PPS to Minister of Horticulture and WRD, President, Altatura society, and Pelevito Kuotsu, PA to Advisor Zhaleo Rio.
