State Level Youth Festival culminates, Model HSS Kohima wins Battle of the Bands

The State-level Youth festival organized by the Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS) culminated today with MLA Dr. Tsielhoutuo Rhutso as the Special Guest at the Valedictory program.

The culmination was marked by the “Battle of the Bands” event at RCEMPA Jotsoma where Gears 4 of the Model Higher Secondary School Kohima emerging as the champions.

 

In his speech, MLA Dr. Rhutso urged the youth to work diligently to carve their paths. He encouraged them to explore various ways to earn a living and stressed the importance of developing skills, focusing on their talents, and to maintain a positive attitude.

The MLA pointed out that they should aim for more than just a basic livelihood; they should strive to reach greater heights and aspire to become employers. This, according to the MLA, can lead to job creation and guidance for young people, ultimately easing the burdens on society.

“Events like this foster community spirit and I hope that such gatherings will continue to unite all tribes and dismantle barriers of tribalism. Tribalism is harming the Nagas,” he added.

Dr. Rhutso encouraged the students to build, educate themselves, and strive to be good citizens while becoming self-sufficient.

“Start by taking necessary and achievable steps,” encouraged the Speaker.

The program concluded with the presentation of awards to the winners of various competitions.

Folk song : Tuensang, Shamator, Kiphire.

Folk Dance: Mokokchung ,Peren, Mon.

Science Mela: Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Wokha.

Declamation: Peren , Tuensang, Wokha.

Painting : Phek,Niuland,Zubheboto.

The judges of the Folk Dance and Folk Song were Kevingulie Tachu – Deputy Director (Art & Culture), Neivotuo Keyho – Art Executive (Art & Culture), and Kuvelu Tetseo (Tetseo Sisters).

For the Declamation and  Science Mela ( Thematic Competition), the judges were Dr Visuzoto Valeo – Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics, Kohima Science College, Kieca Khate – PGT, Physics, Manoj Kumar – PGT, Physics (G Rio School) while the judges for the Painting competition were Vithuse Temi, Merimvi Doulo, and Vikhor Tepa.

Result of the Battle of the Bands:

1st:  Gears  4 -Model higher secondary school Kohima

2nd:  The Crossians-Holy Cross higher secondary school Dimapur

3rd: Escapism Bethesda Higher secondary school Dimapur .

5 consolation awards for battle of the bands were given to: Genesis (The Vineyard School Kohima), Baitung (Patkai Higher Secondary School Chumoukedima), The Redeemer (Government Higher Secondary School Noklak), Re Eophonic (St.John Higher Secondary School Longleng) and Desigb (Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire).
