On January 31, 2025, four members of the Telecom Advisory Committee (TAC) visited the BSNL office in Mokokchung and interacted with the staff. A meeting was convened to discuss various BSNL-related issues and challenges.

During the meeting, TAC member Sashimeren acknowledged BSNL’s past contributions, stating that there was a time when it provided exceptional services across India. However, with the rise of private telecom companies, BSNL has faced challenges in keeping up. He emphasized the need for BSNL to enhance its services to remain competitive and urged the staff to work with renewed dedication.

He also pointed out that the declining service quality in the Mokokchung division requires serious attention. The issues and challenges affecting service delivery should be identified, compiled, and taken up with higher authorities for resolution.

TAC members K. Imti, Chubasunep, and Alemzüngba also shared their views during the meeting.

SDE (Internal) S. Phuveto Swu expressed appreciation for the TAC members’ visit, noting that while they had heard of TAC’s presence earlier, this was the first time members had personally visited the Mokokchung office. He thanked them for their time and effort in addressing the concerns of BSNL employees. Swu also highlighted various work-related challenges, while field staff members shared their experiences, achievements, and the tasks ahead.

The BSNL office in Mokokchung oversees services in six districts—Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Longleng, Tuensang, Shamator, and Noklak. Currently, an AGM from Kohima oversees the Mokokchung division. However, given the vast area it covers, the need for a dedicated AGM for Mokokchung was strongly emphasized and discussed.

The discussion also covered network connectivity issues, with a particular focus on improving service stability. The need for installing additional mobile towers and other infrastructure enhancements was highlighted as a priority to ensure better connectivity across the region.
