Marking a significant achievement and milestone for both India and Nagaland, ‘The Nagaland Madrigal Singers’ won two prestigious Gold Medals for India at the 13th World Choir Games 2024 in New Zealand held from July 10-20, 2024.
On the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland extended his congratulatory remarks, “Congratulations, The Nagaland Madrigal Singers, on winning two Gold Medals for India at the 13th World Choir Games 2024 in New Zealand. You have fulfilled our wish of bringing laurels to the country, and have made us proud. May you continue to excel in all your future endeavours.”

Similarly, on the said platform, Abu Metha, Adviser to Chief Minister, Asso VP Indian Athletics, IVLP, Chairman-Investment & Development Authority, Gender, Youth, Sports, Music & Arts also extended his joy over the achievement, “The Nagaland Madrigal Singers have made India Shine and Nagaland Proud. Congratulations to each one of you .. we are overjoyed !!”
The World Choir Games is the largest choral competition, whereby, over 11,000 singers from 42 countries was said to have participated at the event.
The Nagaland Madrigal Singers was founded by Hito Kiho on September 2023. The Choir group led by Hito Kiho, represented India and competed in 2 prestigious categories;
- Contemporary Music Mixed Voices and
- Mixed Chamber Choir,
and won gold medals in both categories.
The Nagaland Madrigal Singers through this achievement has underscored India’s prowess in the field of music highlighting its place in the global and international sphere.
