Tuensang: CSU Saksi conduct workshop on craft making to promote cultural heritage

Tuensang: Students from class-VIII and above participate in worshop

The Chang Students Union (CSU) Saksi NAP conducted a one-day workshop on craft making under the theme ‘Importance of Culture’ at Student’s Hall, Saksi in Tuensang district. The main objective of the workshop was to teach basic craft skills and to promote cultural heritage through the use of indigenous materials.

Kuku, social and cultural secretary, CSU Saksi NAP, spoke on the importance of culture and how handicrafts play an important role in representing the culture and traditions of Nagas.She added that handicrafts are a substantial medium to preserve rich traditional like arts, heritage and culture and talents which are associated with people’s lifestyle and history.

She urged all the students to know the importance of culture and making of handicrafts with creative skills.

At the workshop, activities such as basket weaving by using natural materials gathered from the forest and pickle making were initiated.
