MGM College, in collaboration with Pranab College, has announced the upcoming ICSSR-sponsored National Seminar on the theme: “Understanding India’s North East: Ethnicity, Identity, and Issues of Conflict”, scheduled for February 7–8, 2025. The seminar will be conducted in a hybrid mode.
This event aims to foster dialogue and research on critical issues shaping the socio-political and cultural dynamics of North East India, informed a press release by MGM College.
The sub themes include Citizenship laws (CAA and NRC) and the issue of identity, Autonomy movements and autonomous councils, Regional political parties, party politics, and pressure groups, Legal and constitutional protections (ILP, Article 371, VIth Schedule) of North East India., Separatist movements in North East India., Language and cultural identity., Migration, diaspora, and refugee issues., Boundary issues and conflicts., Interface of traditional self-governing institutions and modern political institutions., Ethnology of tribes., Identity politics., Gender and identity: race, caste, and demography., Identity and demography.

The seminar will feature renowned academicians, researchers, and policymakers as speakers and participants, providing a platform for in-depth discussions and new perspectives on the region’s challenges and opportunities.
