Wokha Village welcome gate inaugurated

The Wokha Village Welcome Gate, was inaugurated on October 8 alongside various developmental activities at Ratssiphen, Wokha Village. The inaugural was graced by MLA Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, NCS (Retd.) as the Chief Guest.

In his address, Chief Guest Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe lauded the people of Wokha Village, landowners, civil society organisations, and stakeholders for their support in the entire construction process. These collective efforts and beautifications are not only for the betterment of the village but also in anticipation of upcoming jubilees, mentioned Humtsoe. The enthusiasm demonstrated by the villagers was acknowledged by the MLA who expressed appreciation to the villagers’ willingness to assist in the successful completion of the project.

As part of the event, 40 streetlights and paver blocks from Ngashen Fishery to the Welcome Gate (NH-2) were also inaugurated. Humtsoe mentioned that similar initiatives are also in the pipeline for other villages. Humtsoe also commended Architect Lichan L. Odyuo whose vision and creativity significantly contributed to the project’s success. Odyuo’s ability to blend functionality with aesthetic appeal was appreciated.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Renbomo Ezung, Convener of the Committee for Implementation of the Local Area Development Programme (LADP), delivered a brief address highlighting the importance of the new welcome gate as a symbol of unity and progress for the village. He applauded Wokha Village for its judicious utilisation of LADP funds, setting a commendable example for other communities in Nagaland. He also congratulated the architectural design by Lichan L. Odyuo for successfully completing the Welcome Gate.

The ceremony was chaired by Vandan Erui, Chairman, Wokha Village Council, an invocation led by Nongothung Kikon, Assistant Pastor of the Wokha Village Baptist Church. The ceremony ended with a benediction by Chibenthung Humtsoe, Asst. Pastor Wokha Village Baptist Church. Rev. O. Thungben Kikon, Pastor of the Wokha Village Baptist Church, offered a blessing and dedicated the welcome gate.
