At just 18 years old, Noktsula Throngji, a promising singer and songwriter from the Yimkhiung community, is making waves in the music scene. Hailing from Tuensang district and currently pursuing a BA in Music at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, Noktsula is already leaving a mark with her talent and aspirations.
In a conversation with Nagaland Tribune, Noktsula revealed her deep passion for music, which began back in 2015 when she was just eight years old. “My dream is to build a music institute someday and become a full-fledged songwriter,” she shared.
Her debut single, titled “The Rock I Stand On”, is set to release on June 13. Speaking about the song, Noktsula said it is a heartfelt tribute to fathers, celebrating their strength, guidance, and unwavering support.
“My inspiration depends a lot on my imagination,” Noktsula said. “But if I had to name someone, it would definitely be my family. Their constant support and sacrifices have encouraged me at every step of my journey.”

Speaking about her upcoming song “The Rock I Stand On”, she added, “This song is a heartfelt expression of gratitude and love, celebrating the unwavering support and guidance of fathers. It’s a reminder of their profound impact on our lives, the strength they provide, and the importance of appreciating them in every circumstance.”
A special line from the song reads: “Dad, you’re my rock, my guiding star, always there, no matter how far.”
To promote her music, Noktsula uses social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube. She expressed appreciation for platforms like Nagaland Tribune, saying they help emerging artists like her reach a broader audience.
Among her early achievements, Noktsula proudly recalled her performance at the Brilliant Piano Festival, held in Bengaluru on September 28–29, 2024. The event marked a turning point in her growing musical career.
Looking ahead, Noktsula envisions herself writing more original songs, performing on bigger stages, and becoming a source of inspiration for the youth in Tuensang. “In the next 5 to 10 years, I see myself growing not just as an artist but also helping others dream bigger,” she said with confidence.
