The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch on February 17 announced the suspension of its 11-day peaceful sit-in protest following a high-level meeting with officials of the School Education Department and the state government.
Addressing the media, Core Committee member, Bendangtemsu Ozukum said the ANATG delegation, comprising 49 members including core leaders and general members, attended the meeting at around 11 a.m. at Directorate of School Education on invitation from Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT.
Ozukum said the meeting lasted nearly three hours and was attended by the Principal Director of School Education, Joint Director of Samagra Shiksha, officials from the Secretariat and department and representatives of the parent body ANSTA.
Ozukum stated that the decision to include general members in the meeting was taken to ensure that the wider voice of the agitating teachers was directly heard by the government after days of continuous protest.
He said the discussions were “fruitful and cordial,” and the ANATG expressed appreciation to the Advisor and officials for engaging with the delegation. However, the group’s core demands, a specific timeframe for service regularization of the 2015 batch and segregation of the pending 1,166 files remained unresolved despite detailed deliberations.

“Many of our members were not satisfied, as the demands for segregation and a clear timeframe were left unfulfilled,” Ozukum acknowledged.
Following the meeting, the ANATG Core Committee convened a meeting internally and decided to temporarily suspend the sit-in protest. Instead, a general meeting of all members would be held on February 18 to deliberate on the inputs received from the government and chart the next course of action.
The ANATG reiterated that its demands remain unchanged and that further steps will be decided collectively after consultations with the broader membership.
