Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan inaugurated the newly constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) building at Old Aree Village on May 15 during his official constituency tour to the Sungro Range.

The new PHC building was constructed under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP). Addressing the gathering, Yanthan said that considering Aree as a remote village and one of his aspirational villages, he felt the need for a proper healthcare facility, which led to the initiative being undertaken under LADP.

Following the inauguration, a general meeting and review of the implementation of various government schemes and programmes were held. Heads of Departments from different sectors attended the programme with the objective of bridging the gap between government departments and the public.

Speaking during the meeting, Yanthan urged villagers to actively interact with departmental officials, seek clarification on their doubts, and enquire about schemes and programmes that could benefit them. He encouraged the public to make full use of the opportunity, stating that there could be no better time for engagement as officials from all concerned departments were present in the village through the initiative organised by the MLA.

He further encouraged villagers to remain inquisitive, ask questions, and avail themselves of various government schemes to improve their livelihoods and ensure sustainability. Yanthan observed that many villagers remain unaware of several welfare schemes, which, he said, was one of the key reasons behind organising the programme.

The dedication prayer for the newly constructed PHC building was pronounced by Pastor W Kikon of Old Aree Baptist Church.

According to reports, the previous PHC building at Old Aree had fallen into a dilapidated condition and was functioning from a temporary location prior to the construction of the new facility. The new building was constructed by Ngaza Buildcon Private Limited.

During the visit, Yanthan also visited Government Middle School, Old Aree Village, where he interacted with teachers and students. He distributed gifts to teachers and students and also provided kitchen materials for use by the school.
