Dimapur Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by a senior Police Officer to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a minor in Dimapur.
Police said that investigation is progressing rapidly, meticulously and in strict adherence to all procedural requirements and assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure the timely completion of the investigation and the submission of the chargesheet without undue delay, with the objective of upholding due process and ensuring the fair and timely administration of justice.
It may be mentioned that following a formal written First Information Report (FIR) lodged on May 25, 2026, by guardians of the minor victim, the Dimapur Women Police Station has registered a regular case under DMR WNPS Case No. 003/26. The case has been registered under Sections 64(2)(f)(i)(m), 65(1), 71, and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
Based on the statements provided by the victim to the Investigating Officer, police arrested two accused individuals identified as O Watimeren Jamir (43 years), S/o Lt T Opang Jamir, resident of Lane No. 3, House No. 337, Lengrijan Village, Dimapur, V/O – Unger; and Tsuktimongba Ao (37 years), S/o Lt Supongmeren, resident of Razaphe Industrial Village, Dimapur, V/O – Sungratsu.

Both accused individuals were produced before the Court and have been remanded to police custody for rigorous interrogation.
Dimapur Police has urged the public and media platforms to strictly respect the privacy of the minor victim and to refrain from circulating any details—including name, age, tribe, address, school, photographs, or any other particulars which may directly or indirectly reveal the identity of the child.
It also reminded the public that disclosing the identity of a minor victim is a serious criminal offense punishable under Section 72 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 23 of the POCSO Act, and Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.
