The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Dimapur, was held on June 24, 2026 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Dimapur, under the chairmanship of Advisor for Industries & Commerce and Chairperson DPDB Dimapur, Hekani Jakhalu.
Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman DPDB Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, welcomed the new Chairperson of DP&DB, Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries & Commerce and Chairperson DPDB Dimapur. Chang also welcomed the new members of the Board, including Ruzonyi Wideo, CEO, Dimapur Municipal Council; Matsung Aier, Senior Treasury Officer; Viwheto Thorie, District Agriculture Officer; and Nyuvisie Nyusou, R O, Art & Culture Department.
Addressing the meeting, Jakhalu called upon all members to work with dedication, unity and a spirit of teamwork for the overall development of Dimapur district. Emphasizing the importance of collective effort, she urged officers and members to support one another and work in close coordination to ensure the successful implementation of government programmes and developmental activities.
She stated that the officers were fortunate to be posted in Dimapur, one of the State’s most important commercial hubs, and encouraged everyone to make the best use of the opportunity to serve the people. Expressing confidence in the Board, she said that all members would work together under her chairmanship over the next one year and contribute positively towards the district’s growth and progress.
During the meeting, the Board deliberated on several agenda items. Applications for registration of societies, including Dimapur Athletic Association, Rise and Lead Foundation, and Nagaland E-Sport Association and was approved and recommended. Registration of Covenant Foundation was deferred to the next DPDB meeting.
The change of nomenclature of ITIKI Montessori School to ITIKI School, Darogapathar, Dimapur and the proposal for upgradation of Grace Fountain School, Duncan Bosti, from Class V to Class VIII (Upper Primary Level) was deferred to the next meeting.
Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, highlighted the activities undertaken by the Police Department on preventive awareness and coordinated action for girl child and children safety in the district.

Calling for stronger collaboration, Aotula emphasized the need for a unified child protection system linking police, Childline, welfare agencies, schools, health institutions, and community leaders. She stressed that clear roles, timely referrals, regular coordination, and effective information-sharing are essential to ensure that no child is left without support. She stated that building a culture of prevention, accountability, confidentiality, and collective responsibility is key to safeguarding children and securing their rights, dignity, and well-being.
Speaking on local trends, she noted that reported POCSO cases increased from seven in 2022 to fifteen in 2025, while traced missing children reached 216 in 2025. She said that many missing-child cases were linked to runaway cases or elopement patterns and urged stakeholders to identify early warning signs such as absenteeism, school dropouts, and behavioral changes to prevent children from becoming vulnerable.
The meeting also discussed issues relating to traffic congestion in Dimapur and a power point presentation was given by Meren Chenth, DCP (Traffic).
The Deputy Commissioner thanked the DCP Traffic and the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) President for highlighting proposals aimed at easing traffic congestion in the district and assured that the proposals would be forwarded to the higher authorities for approval for the benefit of the general public.
