The Department of Industries & Commerce celebrated the World MSME Day 2026 with entrepreneurs, policymakers, industry representatives and stockholders to recognize the vital role of MSMEs in driving innovation, employment and economic development on June 26 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima.
Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu who was the special guest for the occasion thanked the MSMEs from across the state for their immense and significant contribution to the state and the global economy. She remarked that the Department of Industries and Commerce have provided all it can to promoted and supported MSMEs for scaling up their enterprises with intensive intervention.
She also specified that the Department of Industries & Commerce has also pushed up UDYAM registration and noted that UDYAM registration being the ID card of one’s enterprise, she called the entrepreneurs to be registered as many of our people today are engaged in different type of businesses of their passion with or without the support of the government.
Emphasizing on the signing of MOU with T-Works on MSME Day, with the theme ‘the Future Generation of MSME’, she stated that MOU was to send a strong message to our MSMEs that our government is committed to bring the best experts for our Naga MSMEs and called upon them to feel proud of their contributing to the local economy and creating job avenues.
She cautioned that with AI controlling over everything, they required human touch in the center of entrepreneurship and assured the government and the Department to invest in making sure that the MSMEs are not left behind.
Deputy Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Chonpenthung Ezung, while highlighting on Naturally Nagaland acknowledged that MSME is the backbone of Indian economy, as they alone contribute to nearly 30% of Indian GDP and formalizating Nagaland MSME at remarkable pace of over 2000 enterprises registered in UDYAM. He also stated that buyers across the world are looking for products that can be trusted, he said our state have a native talent and traditional knowledge, that can reach a better height in our brand visibility.
Highlighting to resolved challenges faced by many producers he informed that the Nagaland aims to create a government-subvert brand framework that promotes authentic natural and indigenous product.
He also stated that Nagaland’s initiative is not just about marketing products, but about empowering entrepreneurs by mobilizing and onboarding MSME self-help groups, artisans, cooperatives under a promote identity to transform our local produce into recognized brands and create sustainable market opportunities both domestically and internationally.

Chairman, NIDC Kvulo Lorin, while highlighting on the RAMP Overview with the theme: Human-Centered Entrepreneurship and an AI-Driven Future Economic Environment for the next generation of MSMEs explained, it resonates the work for developing new physical infrastructure, expanding institutional capacities or scaling local businesses with the goal to integrating modern technically advanced solutions while keeping the human element at the core of our growth.
To accelerate this, he said the RAMP scheme initiative of the Ministry of MSME, was launched in Nagaland on August 27, 2024 to elevate the entire MSME ecosystem and focused on upgrading enterprise capabilities, expanding market access, unlocking financial resources and driving scalable sustainable growth with the priority to support our grassroots innovators.
He informed that over 49,000 MSMEs have directly benefited from the initiative, and more than 35,000 entrepreneurs been trained during 882 focus workshops and awareness programs in all districts, 55 subdivisions and 63 rural RD blocks for an inclusive growth. He also announced that women entrepreneurs, people with disability, and the youth in remote districts are made accessible to these opportunities.
During the programme, an MOU was signed between T-Works and Government of Nagaland undertaken by CEO, T-Works, Government of Telangana, Joginder Tanikella and Director, Industries & Commerce, P. Tokugha Sema in the presences of Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu and officials from Industries & Commerce and T-Works team.
Success stories from the RAMP Programme were also shared by Tsachola Sangtam – HillCraft Co and Neivi Khieya – Karmel Timber. The welcome address was proposed by Joint Director, Industries & Commerce, Cholzo Sophie, while the vote of thanks by Joint Director, Industries & Commerce, Hojeto K Suqhe.
