The monthly meeting of the District Planning Development Board (DPDB), Longleng was held at DPDB hall, Longleng on July 7, in the presence of MLA & Chairman DPDB, Longleng, B Bangtick Phom, and Advisor for Airways & Railways, A Pongshi Phom.
Vice Chairman DPDB & Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W Manpai Phom NCS chaired and reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting and welcomed board members including new members. He congratulated B Bangtick Phom on assuming charge as Chairman of the DPDB and A Pongshi Phom, MLA, on his appointment as Advisor to the Chief Minister.
Addressing the gathering, the Advisor highlighted the significance of the ongoing census exercise, stating that every individual should be enumerated at their place of residence in accordance with the Census guidelines. He said accurate population data is vital for effective planning, equitable distribution of government resources, and for future development initiatives.
The Advisor urged all officers entrusted with Census duties to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, impartiality, and professionalism, stressing that a fair and error-free census would ensure that the district receives its rightful share of government resources and developmental benefits. He also called upon all departments to extend full cooperation to census officials for the smooth and successful conduct of the exercise.

MLA & DPDB Chairman, B Bangtick Phom, emphasized the importance of accountability and directed all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to remain stationed at their respective headquarters. He stressed that the presence of departmental heads at their stations is essential for ensuring efficient public service delivery, effective coordination, and the timely implementation of government programmes and developmental activities.
During the meeting the house approved the shifting of GPS Namsang C to EAC office building. The house also approved the Scheme under LADP 2026-27, registration of Phom Sports Association under Society Registration Act, the Construction of Astro Turf at Longleng and creation of Sub-divisional Horticulture office at Tamlu. T Shahnyu Phom, Sr Supervisor, Department of Social Welfare, presented a PowerPoint presentation on its programmes and activities. The Board also reviewed various developmental issues and deliberated on matters relating to the overall progress of the district.
