Government Primary School (GPS) Aolijen was officially recognised at a ceremony held on Wednesday at the school premises, with Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer attending as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Longkumer described the recognition of the school as the result of collective efforts by the Village Council, the School Management Committee (SMC), the School Education Department, land donors and the local community. He said establishing a new government school was not an easy process and acknowledged the contribution of all stakeholders in making the recognition possible.
He urged the community to ensure healthy student enrolment every year so that the school remains functional and is not affected by future government rationalisation or de-recognition measures. According to him, the establishment of a school contributes not only to the education of children but also creates employment opportunities and supports the overall development of the village.
Longkumer also appealed to the School Education Department to continue extending guidance and support to the newly recognized institution.
