Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon citizens to participate enthusiastically in the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as India prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day, linking this year’s celebrations with the broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister said the campaign holds special significance this year as the country marks the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. In a post on X, Modi described the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride and a constant source of inspiration to contribute to the nation’s progress.
The Ministry of Culture has also urged citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and upload selfies on the official Har Ghar Tiranga website. The ministry said this year’s celebrations would combine the spirit of the Tricolour with the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram.
The campaign will feature a range of activities across districts, blocks and panchayats, including Tiranga Yatras and rallies, exhibitions, Tiranga concerts, bike and cycle rallies, tricolour illumination of prominent locations, decorations and Rangoli programmes.
Special events will also be organised under the theme “Tiranga Salute to the Spirit of Vande Mataram”, alongside the popular “Selfie with Tiranga” initiative. The National Flag will be hoisted at households and government offices during the campaign period.

Launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign seeks to encourage citizens to display the National Flag at their homes, fostering a personal connection with the Tricolour while honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and strengthening patriotic spirit.
Several states, including Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Manipur, have already begun organising Tiranga Yatras and rallies ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
This year’s campaign is expected to bring the Tricolour into homes and public spaces across the country while placing Vande Mataram at the centre of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.(with ANI inputs)
