MykiFest 2022 began today at Sakhrie Park, Kohima, as part of the ‘Cultural Connect’ segment of the ongoing 23rd edition Hornbill Festival.
Organised by the Department of Women Resource Development, the two-day festival will be showcasing products by Myki and other women entrepreneurs along with features such as Food Court, live demo on selected food preparation, a live performance and Open English Solo Singing Competition.
MykiFest, launched during 2017-18, is the premier event of the Department and works to recognise women as equal partners in the socioeconomic development of society as well as to celebrate the activities and achievements of women entrepreneurs, artisans, artists, cultivators and various women organisations.
At the inaugural programme, Zajamo Odyuo delivered the invocation prayer and the flag of Department of Women Resource Development (DWRD) was unfurled by Anenla T Sato (IAS), Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Department of Women Resource Development & Horticulture.

The department showcased 15 Myki food products and 70 plus apparels and accessories. A live demo on selected food items such as groundnut, roselle tea and Job’s tears was also presented.
Three entrepreneurs – Hope SHG, Long’s Decors and Annie’s Weaving – participated in today’s event.
Hope SHG displayed the processed food products, Long’s Decors showcased accessories such as house decors and Christmas decors, and Annie’s Weaving showcased all traditional and contemporary weaving products.

The audition for the Open Solo Competition (for females 18 years and above) was also held today at the park. Out of 24 interested participants who tried out, 12 were chosen to advance to the finals which will be held tomorrow, 7 December.

On Day-2 of the MykiFest, the results of the Open Solo Competition will be declared and prizes distributed. The day will also feature a live performance by BRAHMOS Band.
