The Department of Youth Ministry, Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (SBAK) Nito Mount, held its 64th Youth Conference in Sukhalu village from 9 to 11 December.

The conference was held under the theme ‘Kütshukime’ (Connect) with Rev N Suhuto, youth secretary of NBCC, and Rev Hukugha Zhimo, executive secretary of SBAK Nito Mount.

The highlights of the conference included: greeting message by K T Sukhalu, advisor of School Education & SCERT, an introduction to the conference by Jasper Achumi, secretary of DoYM Nito Mount, Bible study led by Hekato Awomi, pastor of SBC Naltoqa and words of encouragement by Dr Hokishe Yepthomi, Chairman Emeritus.

The praise and worship segment was led by Kohima Sumi Baptist Church.

Advisor K T Sukhalu, while delivering the greetings, said he served the government as a civil servant for many years but never thought of being a politician. However, God’s plan was better for him, he said and called upon the youths to be faithful to God and to be sincere.

During the conference, stories of their experience with success were shared by N K Naga, the first Naga Bollywood playback singer and Aron T Asumi, director of Immanuel Music Academy, videographer and YouTuber.

While sharing the secret of his success, Aron T Asumi dwelled on five things he followed – identified his strengths and weaknesses, worked on planning and execution, worked hard, focused on good time management, and partnered with God.

While sharing on different ways of earning a livelihood, he called upon the youths not to be dependent only on government jobs and assured his support to anyone willing to strive harder.

N K Naga, while sharing his story, recalled how he was mocked at by one of the judges while he participated at Naga Orpheus Hunt and added that he because he wanted very much to play the guitar, he served his friend who had a guitar which was how he learned to play the instrument.

He said he didn’t give up even after receiving many criticisms but instead tried harder and eventually, a call came from Bollywood and many awards followed after.
