The third Winter Night Carnival of Mokokchung organised by the Adventure and Motorsport Association of Mokokchung (AMAM) was kicked off with Imnaonen Pongen, president of Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, gracing the occasion as the Special Guest on 14 December in Mokokchung Town.

Pongen appreciated AMAM for organising such a noble initiative which he said have literally kick-started the festive season in town.

He reflected upon the difficult memories of the town during the COVID-19 pandemic which had affected everyone but he said resilience and cooperation with the authorities and among the citizens could overcome the pandemic.

He said the carnival would be the stepping stone for the people to rise up from the ashes of the pandemic and rebuild the town and lives.

He said he hopes that the festivity will once again infuse the feeling of brotherhood among the citizens and foster the feeling of belonging among themselves.

In that regard, he encouraged AMAM to further continue with their noble works and organise such carnivals during other festivals like Moatsu, Tsungremmong and other events.

He also suggested the Mokokchung Municipal Committee (MMC) to identify the enterprising youths and encourage them by giving licenses and exploring ways and means to open their own stalls in and around the town throughout the year, which he believes could contribute to employment opportunities and ultimately lead to a self-reliant and prospering society.

He welcomed all the visitors from different places to the carnival and wished everyone a warm and Merry Christmas.

Moasashi, president of AMAM, in his welcome address gave season’s greetings to the gathering. He stated that the main objective of organising the carnival is to let people of Mokokchung come out of their comfort zone and enjoy the myriad of food, games and all that this carnival has to offer and to make the air of festivity merrier where families and friends can come and have a wonderful moment together.

He said he was hopeful that this carnival would make the air of festivity livelier as one earnestly awaits the Saviour’s birth. He wished both the revellers as well as the stalls the best of their moments.

The students of Class of Music, Mokokchung performed the parade.

The prelude was done by Arenla Lemtur while the dedicatory prayer was delivered by Limaonen Imchen.
