President of Janata Dal (United) Nagaland and National Secretary JDU, Senchumo (NSN) Lotha, asserted that the resolution of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) to abstain from participating in the 2023 General Assembly elections is not an answer to the ENPO demand for a separate statehood ‘Frontier Nagaland’.
He said this on the sideline of the NSF program here at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.
Lotha was of the view that the problem has to be within the Assembly because the Nagaland Legislative Assembly has to pass a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before the central government decides whether a state should be carved out or not.
The general Assembly Election should be conducted smoothly and after that this kind of demand should be materialised, added Lotha.
Lotha maintained that while respecting the sentiments of the Eastern people, he feels that all the Nagas should be under one administrative roof
He, however, stated that if this is the genuine aspiration of the Eastern people to have a separate statehood then he respects the wishes and the aspiration of the people, adding that that their demand should be taken into consideration from all angles.
