Thipüzumi Students Union celebrate 75th anniversary

Kohima: Neposo Theluo, commissioner and secretary of the rural development department, unveiled the 75th Anniversary Monolith and also inaugurated the Thipuzumi anniversary building

The Thipüzumi Students Union (TSU) on 28 December celebrated its 75th anniversary under the theme ‘Transcending limitation, catalysing transformation’ in Thipüzumi village under Phek district.

Neposo Thelü-o, Commissioner and Secretary to the department of Rural Development, Government of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

In his address, Theluo said 75 years is a momentous occasion and recounted contributions of pioneers and leaders of Thipüzumi Students Union over the years, stating that with maturity comes responsibility.

Theluo asked the students to contribute towards the transformation of society while expounding their boundaries to achieve great things.

He exhorted the students not to bask in past glory but to compete with others, recognising their limitations and focusing on their strength to excel.

He further encouraged the students to set their goals and focus on their target with perseverance.

Greeting messages were delivered by Avezo Kevin Kapu, president of the Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) and Zhoveyi Rose, chairman of the Thipüzumi Village Council.

Kapu exhorted the students to have vision and passion, be disciplined and persevere. Rose advised the gathering to promote their culture and native language and to maintain the identity of the village.

The presidential address was delivered by Kevezo Zango Chuzho during which he stressed on the need for pressing towards personal acumen. He also emphasised on the need to preserve and maintain individual and community identity.

On the occasion, the guest of honour also released the Souvenir. The welcome address was delivered by Vevosayi Tetseo while blessings (Reli Phri) for the student fraternity were pronounced by Vezahü Thelü-o, the first TSU president.

Thipüzumi Baptist Youth Fellowship Kohima (TBYFK) and Diethozo Medeo presented special songs.

Earlier, Neposo Theluo unveiled the 75th Anniversary Monolith and also inaugurated the Thipuzumi anniversary building in the presence of officers from the village and village leaders wherein Vejuyi Rose, pastor of Thipüzumi Baptist Church (TBC), offered a prayer and a folksong was presented by menfolk.
