Asukhomi Students’ Union celebrate Platinum Jubilee

Zunheboto: The 75th anniversary celebrations were held from 27 to 29 December

The Asukhomi Students’ Union celebrated its Platinum Jubilee under the theme ‘Retrospection and Envisioning’ from 27 to 29 December in Asukhomi village, Zunheboto.

The speakers of the jubilee programme were Rev K Honito Sema, pastor of UBC Satakha, Y Vishiho Shohe, pastor of SBC Dimapur and Dr Botoholi Yeptho, associate pastor women of SBC Mokokchung.

The jubilee monolith was inaugurated by Er Yekhushe Kiba, EE Irrigation & Flood Control (Rtd) and 4th president of the Asukhomi Students’ Union.

The dedicatory prayer was delivered by Rev Honito Sema, pastor of UBC Satakha.

Rev Honito Sema, while speaking at the inaugural session, said it was a huge milestone and that it was the best moment for the people of Asukhomi.

He expounded on Psalms 75 and further conveyed his gratitude to the elders present in the jubilee celebration.

Toshiho Kiba, Wing Commander Indian Air Force, delivered greetings and said initially the Union only had a few members but today they have become large in number.

Kiba told the gathering that even as they celebrate 75 years of the establishment of the Asukhomi Students’ Union, they should thank the pioneers for their sacrifice. He reminded the gathering that in the olden days, people used to wear half-pants and walk barefoot while today’s world is of a “smart generation”. Remembering the work of the pioneers, he told the gathering that they should respect and be grateful to the pioneers.
