Chare Town Students’ Union celebrated its 25th anniversary on 29 and 30 December under the theme ‘Stronger in Spirit, Deeper in Wisdom’ in Tuensang.
Opangtula Sangtam, Joint Development Commissioner, Planning (Retd) and Thsarise Sangtam, Joint Director, School Education (Retd) were the main speakers of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Opangtula took the example of the biblical character Joseph and encouraged the students to inculcate the virtues of hard work, humility and perseverance.
In his message, Thsarise emphasised on the importance and power of education. He stated that education expands, increases and refines the mind.

The special guests of the occasion were Muthingnyuba Sangtam, MLA and chairman of the District Planning & Development Board, Tuensang; Sethrongkhyu, vice president of Western Sangtam People’s Organisation; and Yutho Sangtam, administrative coordinator of The Entrepreneurs Associates.
Delivering a short speech, Sethrongkhyu encouraged the gathering to maintain unity and challenge the differences.

The 25th Anniversary Memorial Hall was inaugurated by MLA Muthingnyuba. In a short speech, he encouraged the students to have a strong foundation and look forward.
On the occasion, the four points 25th anniversary resolutions were also adopted, which are: to endeavour for self-reliance project, to start an educational trust fund, to initiate seed-money project for 50 years celebration and to continually fight against all social evils.
The planning committee, executive committee and officials of CTSU expressed gratitude to the speakers, special guests, participants and well-wishers for making the programme a grand success.
