Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah arrived in Nagaland on Friday for a brief visit.
Upon his arrival, he inaugurated several projects in the state worth Rs 51.52 crore. These include VR Laboratories in 42 Government Higher Secondary schools, Atal Tinkering Labs in nine Government Higher Secondary schools, 12.5MV Sub-Station in Chiephobozou, trekking & base camp at Mount Saramati in Thanamir village under Kiphire district and RCC 2-lane bridge at Doyang river near Governor’s camp Liphayan under Wokha district.
Speaking at the programme in Chümoukedima, the Union Home Minister said it is because of the endearing vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that not only Nagaland but all the eight Northeast states are walking through the stages of development.
He said the Modi government has a vision of three 3 Ps for Nagaland – Peace, progress and prosperity. To this, he said today all the 3 Ps have been successfully implemented in Nagaland.
Shah noted that Nagaland and the Northeast region, which was earlier known for insurgent groups, is known today with the vision of PM Modi for peace and progress through connectivity and development.
“Connectivity not just physical connectivity of road but also the emotional connect that exists in different part of India and the Northeast today,” he added.
On the forthcoming state general election, the Union Home Minister said with the existing alliance of BJP and NDPP in the state, he firmly believed together they will contest elections and see to it that they come to power with full majority and develop Nagaland.
Nagaland today is a mixture of great culture, tribes and dances, Shah stated, adding that Nagaland is in fact known in the country for the diversity of 12 different organic varieties and that is the reason why there is a huge potential of tourism in Nagaland.
In the whole world, Nagaland is famous for its culture and ethnicity and of course the way they treat their Naga women with uniformity and oneness, Shah stated.
Shah also stated that as far as insurgency is concerned in Nagaland, the state has witnessed a reduction of 74 percentage in the data of 2021 compared to the data of 2014. Whereas, with regard to the law and order situation, there has been a reduction of 60 percentage of the martyrdom of the Armed forces and a reduction of 84 percentage as far as ambush of the ordinary citizens in Nagaland is concerned, he said.
Furthermore, Shah said the process of repealing AFSPA from Nagaland has already started in a very gradual manner.
He also stated that he has complete faith and believes in the existing alliance of the NDPP and the BJP here in the state of Nagaland and will see to it that the parties come to power with full majority and progress towards a developed, prosperous and happy Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Shah also highlighted the various developmental projects and schemes under the leadership of the Modi government and stated that the Prime Minister’s vision of mainstreaming the Northeast has grown fruits today through the various modes he has carried out so far.
“Not just big projects of infrastructure but as far as the basic requirement of the people of Nagaland is concerned, the Modi Government is extremely sensitive towards it,” Shah added.
The Union Home Minister also firmly believed that the five schemes which was inaugurated on Friday would bring about revolutionary change in the sector of education, tourism and electricity supply in Nagaland.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his address, expressed his sincere appreciation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his support to Nagaland and its citizens.
Along with the blessings and guidance of the prime minister Narendra Modi, the Union Home Minister has always stood with the Naga people and never turned down our requests and requirements, the Chief Minister said.
Rio maintained that the Nagaland government is able to provide a stable and progressive activities and development based governance due to the support of the PM and HM, adding that the state government is very keen on improving the quality of education.
Stating this, Rio expressed his gratitude to be able to launch two projects virtually in 42 government higher secondary schools and Atal Timkering Lab in nine schools.
The Chief Minister also said the foothill road has been an aspiration of the people of the state and while waiting for the full construction of the road, the state from its own resources has constructed an RCC two-lane bridge at Doyang river near Governor’s camp Liphayan.
Thanamir known as the Apple Village, is one of the remotest village in the state located in the foothills of Mt Saramati, the highest peak in the state with 3,841 m has great tourism prospect and to meet the end need of the tourist, the governmentt has constructed a training and base camp in Thanamir village which is inaugurated today, Rio said.
The Chief Minister said that to ensure power supply stability in the state, a 12.5 MV sub-station has been constructed at Chiephobozou. He added that this sub-station (which was inaugurated on Friday) will go a long way in providing power stability in the state including Kohima district.
Rio also maintained that the state has a lot of development deficiencies and pending cases. He said the state has requested the prime minister to visit Nagaland to announce the project pending as approved and to also lay foundation stones and inaugurate some of the projects which have been completed.
In conclusion, Rio stated that he firmly believed that within the end of the 13th House many good things would prevail.
He also expressed his hopes that the partnership alliance of the NDPP and the BJP would get people’s mandate in the forthcoming elections to serve the people.
