A team of farmers set off for a week-long tour to Agriculture University in Jorhat, Assam today.
The Farmer Tour has been organised by the Shamator Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (IGAR) (North) 7 Sector Assam Rifles (AR).
SP Noklak James Humtsoe, IPS, flagged off the tour from Noklak town.

He expressed his appreciation to the 14 Assam Rifles battalion for taking the initiative to send the farmers of the newest district of Nagaland to Agriculture University. He stated that this would give the farmers a good opportunity and an exposure to learn new methods and techniques of farming.
Humtsoe urged the farmers to make the best use of the opportunity and to implement what they learn on the ground once they return.

The week-long tour – from 6 to 14 January – will be flagged in by Cdr 7 Sector Assam Rifles in Tuensang on 14 January.
Altogether, nine farmers from Noklak district and two from Shamatore district are taking part in the Farmer Tour.
The initiative and commitment of the 14 Assam Rifles was highly appreciated by all the dignitaries of District Administration.
