The Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) distributed solar street lights to Choknyu village on 11 January.

Choknyu village lies approximately 30km from Mon District Headquarters. The distribution of street lights was taken up under op Sadbhavna 2022–2023 which is ‘Goodwill’, a unique humane initiative undertaken by the Assam Rifles, the organisers informed.

Altogether, 14 solar street lights were distributed to the village authority to be put up in the streets.

The solar street lights were distributed so that there would be uninterrupted lighting on the streets which are generally left in dark due to the irregular power supply.

The initiative taken by the Assam Rifles to help in ensuring well-illuminated streets were highly appreciated by the village community.
