The Farmer Tour to Agriculture University in Jorhat, Assam that began a week ago concluded on Saturday.
The Shamator Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) 7 Sector AR had organised a tour for the farmers of Noklak district to Assam.
The tour was conducted from 6–14 January during which the farmers also visited Kaziranga National Park.
Altogether, nine farmers from Noklak district and two from Shamatore district took part in the Farmer Tour.
On 14 January, a programme was held in Tuensang in which the tour was “flagged in” by Brigadier Vikram Singh, Commander Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
Singh appreciated the 14 AR battalion for the initiative taken to send the farmers of the young district of Nagaland to Agriculture University. He promised the farmers of the district that this event would be made into a routine affair and stated that the farmers would have learnt implications of modern farming techniques to enhance production.
He further urged the farmers to share the knowledge acquired to other farmers of their particular villages and region. The farmers were then felicitated by the Commander of HQ 7 Sector.
According to the organisers, the tour was appreciated by the farmers, commander and all the officers of HQ 7 Sector AR.
