Khiamniungan community celebrates Khaozaosie Hok-Ah cum Handicraft Festival in Noklak

The Khiamniungan community celebrated Khaozaosie Hok-Ah cum Handicraft Festival at the public ground in Noklak town today.

Organised by the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) in collaboration with Noklak District Handle & Handicraft Festival Council, the event was graced by S Heno, former parliamentary secretary of the Government of Nagaland, as the chief guest.

Heno, in his speech, stressed on peace being the source of development in the land. He further he urged the community to be peace-loving citizens and to live in unity.

He mentioned that Khaozaosie Hok-Ah festival is a time of forgiveness and restoration of peace between villagers as well as a time of sharing meat among the close kins and relatives.

Heno urged the tribal leaders, public leaders, elders, DBs and GBs to serve the people with dedication and to work for the upliftment of the district. He also encouraged the community to preserve the rich cultures and traditions of the tribe.

Deputy Commissioner Noklak K Mhathung Tsanglao urged the community to put their indifferences and conflicts aside and to adopt the concept of unity, logical reasons and forgiveness to strive ahead.

Mentioning that it was sacrifice that led to the achievement of the district, the DC encouraged the gathering to have the same feeling and enthusiasm and to extend co-operation. For equitable development in economic and education, the DC stressed on having inclusiveness and transparency in decision making and the core values.

The significance of Khaozaosie Hok-Ah was spoken by T Palu, Head DB, Nokhu EAC HQ, while KTC president M Thangou gave the festival greetings.

Earlier, chief guest S Heno inaugurated and inspected the Handicraft & Handloom stalls set for sales. This was followed by the cultural display and dance by the Khiamniungan Cultural Club Noklak Town and Noklak Town Women Cultural Group.

As part of the event, a Noklak town ward wise tug-of-war competition was also organised which was won by Danlepdon ward with Medical ward coming in second.
