The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) during its joint consultative meeting with all the Yimkhiung frontal organisations has resolved to “wholeheartedly support” the 26 August 2022 ENPO resolution and not participate in the upcoming General elections until the demand for a separate statehood is met.
In a notification released on 21 January, the YTC further stated that “no individual candidate shall file a nomination under Yimkhiung Jurisdiction”.
It has also barred any “political related campaigning” by “any political parties and candidates” from taking place in in Yimkhiung area.
A strong warning has been given to “any individual under YTC Jurisdiction violating the resolution” who will be “permanently ex-communicated from Yimkhiung community.”
The YTC has endorsed the Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) Town unions and village councils to “strictly implement the said directives”, according to the notification.
