The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was officially launched in the State today in the presence of Rajesh Sharma, i/c Northeast (AAP), and newly appointed AAP State President Asu Keyho and party workers here at 2K Hotel, Kohima.
Addressing the launch programme, Rajesh Sharma i/c Northeast (AAP) asserted that the party was born out of a movement against corruption and that the National Convenor of AAP Arvind Kejriwal is committed towards elimination of corruption from politics and governance in the country.
Sharma said in 75 years India still remains a developing nation and the real issues of the people still remain unresolved. He added that AAP is committed to address the real issues of people such as good education, good healthcare, good roads, infrastructure etc.
He observed that Nagaland is also facing such problems with no development. “The deep-rooted corruption in politics of Nagaland and its consequences are very scary,” he added.
He stressed that things have to change in Nagaland especially the poor road conditions, poor healthcare system, and the schools, adding that this is the right time for the people of Nagaland to rise and vote for good governance, honest politics and overall development of the state, and for the elimination of corruption from politics and governance.
He also informed that AAP will be contesting in the 2023 state elections and will officially declare their list of candidates soon.
AAP State President Asu Keyho, speaking on the vision of the party and some of the agendas for the ensuing election, stated that if the party comes to power, it will discard Hornbill Festival which, he said, has become an abominable act in the context of Naga belief and culture because never before in the past had the Nagas worshipped or idolized the hornbill or other creatures as it is seemingly being done today.
He further said AAP will implement transparency and assure meritorious recruitment policy in the manner of 80% marks from written, 10% from academic excellence, and 10% from viva/interview. Implementation of recruitment policy will be on the basis of merit alone, Keyho added.
