Janata Dal (United) candidate for 37 Tyui A/C, Senchumo (NSN) Lotha said on Wednesday that sensible voters in the constituency are talking about change and that the “anti-incumbency wave” was growing.

Lotha stated that people’s need for a change led him to contest in the elections this year.

“Every sensible voter of this constituency is talking about change because 15 years of the same leader has also brought a lot of anti-incumbency wave. Therefore, I see that the mood of the people is definitely for a change in this ongoing election,” he told Nagaland Tribune.

Lotha, who is contesting against sitting BJP MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, Independent candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha and Y. Kikon, candidate of Rashtriya Janata Dal cleared his scrutiny today from DC office Wokha.

Lotha is contesting the elections for the third time in 37 Tyui A/C after having previously contested in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

The JDU leader, who holds several portfolios within the party as the national secretary and chairman of the North East Coordination Council (NEEC), expressed his confidence of winning the election against his main opponent, BJP candidate Y. Patton.

“Definitely, as far as the mood of the people is concerned, the way people are supporting me, the way people are deserting the present incumbent, I am very confident that with the progress of every day, I am definitely going to win this election,” he said.
