Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS has notified rules for medical shops and pharmacies in Kohima district regarding the sale of Schedule X and H drugs, which are restrictive in nature, as per Rule 65 of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 & Drugs & Cosmetic Rules, 1945.
According to the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, Schedule H and X drugs include Narcotic and Psychotropic drugs that causes delusion, hallucination, psychosis, sedation and hypnosis.
The DC notified that these drugs should be sold only on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription. The registered medical practitioner should record the sale of the drugs in a separate register mentioning the name and address of the prescriber, patient and the quantity of the drug sold.

Further, all Pharmacies/ Medical Stores selling the drugs have been directed to install CCTV cameras inside and outside the premises of their respective shops within one month period from the date of issue of this order, with proper footage recording and storage of minimum 2 (Two) month data. Regular checking of the CCTV cameras as well as registers maintained by the Pharmacies/ Medical Stores shall be carried out by the District Drug Controller Authority/ District Enforcement Force, Kohima and a monthly report to be submitted to Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, the order added.
